The Role Of Hormonal And Hereditary Factors
Though your hair may start thinning with age, premature hair loss can be due to various reasons, including a scalp problem like dandruff or seborrhoeic dermatitits. Hair loss can also be caused by hormonal imbalances, as well as hair damage and even stress.

For women, post-pregnancy hair loss is very common and this is believed to be due to a sudden fall in estrogen levels. However, once the hormones settle down, the hair loss may also stop. For men, hormones and hereditary factors play a significant role in hair loss, especially in what is known as ‘male pattern baldness.’

Why Your Diet Is Important
Another common cause for hair loss is nutritional deficiencies and an anemic condition. Also, a lack of minerals and the B-complex vitamins can cause hair loss. Hair is fed by the nutrients in the bloodstream which is carried to the hair follicles. Therefore, an individual’s daily diet plays a very significant role. Thyroid imbalances can also trigger hair loss. So it’s best to consult your doctor, as it can be detected by a simple blood test and can also be corrected with medication.

Hair Damage Caused By You Can Trigger Hair Loss
Another cause of hair loss which is often overlooked is, trauma to the hair. The habitual tying of the hair tightly can trigger off hair loss, due to trauma caused to the roots, especially at the hairline. Hair loss or hair breakage can also occur due to the use of chemical hair styling, dyeing and colouring. Chemical treatments can alter the structure of the hair, causing it to become weak and brittle. Hair colours can also upset the normal balances of the scalp.
