As a means of expression of their love for the new-born, parents or relatives go all out to purchase jewellery pieces that are over-elaborate or decorative. However, new-borns should be gifted jewellery that is designed especially for them with utmost care and precision devoid of any pointed or sharp edges.

The jewellery for a new-born should be light weight, soft and something which makes the baby smile, or something that represents the love of the parents. The jewellery should not have conical or sharp corners. It should be very smooth so that it does not harm the new-born. Thus, try to get the pure form of gold jewellery for the baby, like 22 karat jewellery, as a baby’s skin is very sensitive and the alloys percentage is less in this type of jewellery, compared to 18 karat or 14 karat jewellery.

You can also opt for jewellery that has bells, like in bracelet or anklets, as the sounds keep the baby busy. Nevertheless, it is important to ensure that the bracelets and anklets fit properly, without being too loose or too tight. The jewellery should also be free of beads or charms or anything that the baby could accidentally choke on.
